St David’s monastic rules were very strict with followers expected to eat only salted bread and herbs, consume no meat or alcohol, and spend their time in prayer. Neither were they allowed to have any personal possessions.

St David was appointed Bishop of Menevia, Swansea. One miracle attributed to him occurred while he was preaching; the ground on which he stood was raised to create a small hill and a white dove alighted on his shoulder.

St David is the Patron Saint of Wales. His Feast Day is the 1st March, the day of his death.
