Extract
Jesus began his teaching in Nazareth, his hometown. “Many who heard him were astonished, saying, where did he get these ideas? And what is this wisdom that has been given to him? What are these miracles that are done through his hands? Isn’t this the carpenter, the son of Mary.” (Mark 6:2-3)
Thought
Sometimes it is those who know us better than anyone else, the ones that we grew up with, that let us down the most!
Jesus’ hometown friends were astonished at his miraculous work and authoritative teaching but, they also refused to accept him as the Son of God.
Reflection
Lord Jesus, guide me in my weaknesses; who do I exclude from my life, how can I make amends, make peace? Can I make peace with them today?
Prayer: Peace
Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is error, truth;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console;
To be understood as to understand;
To be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
