Maximus of Aquila

St Maximus of Aquila or Aveia
(Died ca. 250 AD)

St Maximus of L’Aquila

St Maximus was born in Aveia. He was ordained a Deacon and lived during the rule of Emperor Decius who relentlessly persecuted Christians hoping to introduce paganism.

St Maximus, refusing to deny his Christian faith, was tortured and then martyred by being thrown over a cliff-edge to his death.

St Maximus is Patron Saint of L’Aquila, Italy. His Feast Day is the 10th June.

St Maximus of Aquila:
Pray for us that we will remain faithful to the teachings of the Catholic Church.

Glory be to the Father…
