Our Lady of Lourdes

Background: Every year millions of people from all religions and no religion, travel to France to visit the site Of Lourdes. The Blessed Virgin Mary first appeared on 11th February 1858 to Bernadette Soubirous, a poor 14-year-old peasant. At first, the young girl and her friends kept the visions secret but news soon spread and a further seventeen were recorded. Numerous miracles were soon reported from the site of the apparitions and they continue to happen today. The miracles are often associated with a spring from which water first flowed when the Blessed Virgin Mary asked Bernadette to scrape the dirt away from the ground nearby. Bernadette joined the Sisters of Charity in Nevers and died at the young age of 35. Her body was exhumed many years later and found, not to have decomposed. The Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes is 11th February.

Cross-RedO Ever Immaculate Virgin,
Mother of Mercy, Health of the Sick,
Refuge of Sinners, Comfort to the Afflicted,
you know my wants, my troubles and my sufferings.
Cast upon me a look of mercy.

Our Lady of Lourdes

Our Lady of Graces

By appearing in the Grotto of Lourdes,
you made it a privileged sanctuary,
from where you dispense your favours;
healing many sufferers of their infirmities,
both spiritual and physical.

I come to you now,
with the most unbounded confidence,
to implore your maternal intercession.
Grant, O Loving Mother, my request,
but may the will of God be done.

(Share your intention...)

O Immaculate Mother,
In gratitude for your assistance,
I promise to imitate your virtues
so that I will, one day, share in your glory.

Say: Hail Mary… (x3)
