What John Said About Jesus!

Jesus-365-1Chapter 1 – The Prophet John The Baptist
Story No. 5 of 11
(Mt 3:11-12, Mk 1:7-8, Lk 3:15-18, Jn 1:24-28)

Do you get tired of being asked to change your ways?

Most of us do! It’s so easy to gloss over and become immune to multiple requests, even from our loved ones.

ChangeJohn the Baptist preached a message of change. He asked people to repent of their sins in preparation for the coming of Jesus saying, “I baptise you with water, but one more powerful than I am is coming – I am not worthy to untie the strap of his sandals.”

The crowds, on hearing John’s message asked, “What then should we do?”

John replied, “The person who has two tunics must share with the person who has none, and the person who has food must do likewise. Tax collectors… collect no more than you are required to… soldiers… take money from no one by violence or by false accusation, and be content with your pay.”

ThoughtsThought

Today, is a great time to ask ourselves, “What then should I do?” Is my repentance real? Are my actions honest?

ReflectionsReflection

Lord Jesus, create in me a hunger to keep myself in true readiness for your final coming.

Cross-4RPrayer: Generosity

Lord, teach me to be generous.
Teach me to serve you as you deserve;
To give and not to count the cost;
To fight and not to heed the wounds;
To toil and not to seek for rest;
To labour and not to ask for reward,
save that of knowing that I am doing your holy will. Amen
