Parable Of The Sower by Jesus

Jesus-365-1Chapter 6 – Jesus’ Ministry in Galilee – Part 2
Story No. 32 of 34 (
Matthew 13:1-9, Mark 4:1-9, Luke 8:4-8)

Jesus told the parable of a man who went out to sow seed:-

He said, some of the seed fell on the path which the birds ate, some on rocky ground with little soil which sprouted but died, some among thorns which grew but the thorns choked it and some on rich soil which grew and thrived.

What does that all mean the disciples asked?

The seed, Jesus said, represents the Word of God, the Gospel;

  • Parable-of-the-SowerThe seed that fell on the path represented the people who heard the Gospel but, Satan came and took it away.
  • The seed that fell on the rocky ground represented the people who heard, gladly received, but later gave up.
  • The seed that fell among thorns represented the people who heard but were distracted by worldly values and drifted off.
  • The seed that fell on good soil represented those who heard the Word and lived its message to the full.

I hope I am the seed that fell on good soil! Every day, I ask God for His help.

Lord Jesus, thank you for your Word.
Strengthen my resolve to understand its meaning.
Give me the grace to persist with an obedient and good heart,
and bear the fruit of your heavenly Kingdom.

Holy Michael the Archangel,
defend us in the day of battle.
Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God,
thrust down to hell satan
and all the wicked spirits
who wander through the world for the ruin of souls.
