Jesus Raises A Widow’s Son From The Dead At Nain

Jesus’ Life: Chapter 6 – Jesus’ Ministry In Galilee (Part 2)

Soon after Jesus healed the Centurions servant in Capernaum, he left and went to the town of Nain.

As he approached the town gate, he met a crowd carrying the body of a dead man on a bier for burial. The man was the only son of a widow.

Jesus, “Had compassion for her,” and said, “Do not weep”. He then approached the bier, touched it and said, “Young man, I say to you, get up”.

Immediately, the dead man sat up and started talking. As Jesus gave the young man back to his mother, fear seized everyone and they began to glorify God saying, “A great prophet has appeared among us,” and “God has come to help his people”.

The report of this miraculous raising from the dead of the young man spread throughout Judea and the surrounding area. (Luke 7:11-17)

Thought

We all die in the hope that, when we are awakened, Jesus will be standing beside us and welcoming us into His Kingdom.

Reflection

Lord Jesus, help me to remain faithful to your teachings and glorify you forever. Amen.

Prayer: Michael the Archangel

Holy Michael the Archangel,
defend us in the day of battle.
Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God,
thrust down to hell satan
and all the wicked spirits
who wander through the world for the ruin of souls.
