Jesus At The Feast Of Dedication

Jesus-365-1Chapter 12 – Jesus’ Ministry in Judea
Story No. 6 of 15 (John 10:22-39

It was an eight-day Jewish holiday, the Feast of Dedication or Festival of lights. It was held in Jerusalem and Jesus was present.

While in the Temple courts, some Jewish leaders surrounded Jesus and asked, “How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly”.

Jesus answered, “I told you and you do not believe… because you are not my sheep. My sheep listen to my voice, and I know them, and they follow me… and they will never perish.”

As the incensed Jewish leaders picked up stones intent on killing Jesus, He asked, “I have shown you many good deeds from the Father. For which one of them are you going to stone me?” They replied, “We are not stoning you for a good work but, for blasphemy, you claimed to be the Son of God!”

Jesus avoided the clutches of the Jewish leaders and slipped away.Freedom-of-Choice

Our loving God has given us, “The Freedom of Choice,” to listen or not. He is also ready to support us as we live Jesus’ Gospel teachings.

Lord God, I surrender my life to You. Support me with your blessings as I place my love and trust in your promises.

Cross-4RPrayer: Guidance

Steer the ship of my life, good Lord,
to your quiet harbour,
where I can be safe from the storms of sin and conflict.
Show me the course I should take.
Renew in me the gift of discernment,
so that I can always see the right direction in which I should go.
And give me the strength and the courage to choose the right course,
even when the sea is rough and the waves are high,
knowing that through enduring hardship and danger,
in your name, we shall find comfort and peace.
