Jesus’ Life: Chapter 6 – Jesus’ Ministry In Galilee (Part 2)
As Jesus entered Capernaum, a Roman Centurion approached and begged him to heal one of his servants who was paralysed and in “terrible anguish”.
Jesus agreed to go to his home but, the Centurion immediately interrupted saying: “Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof; only say the word and my servant will be healed”.
Jesus, amazed at the man’s faith, said, “Let it be done for you” and the servant was immediately healed.
In the Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist, we repeat similar humble words before receiving the Sacred Body of Jesus. Neither, are we worthy to have Jesus come and visit us, but we faithfully ask Him to heal our soul. (Matthew 8:5-13, Mark 7:30, Luke 7:1-10, John 4:46b-54)
Thought
The soldier was deeply concerned about the welfare of his workers, he took the time to find Jesus and held absolute faith in His healing powers.
We also have a similar duty to look after the health and spiritual growth of ourselves, our friends and family. Make it one of your daily priorities.

“Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed”.

Gracious and Holy Father,
give us the wisdom to discover You,
the intelligence to understand You,
the diligence to seek after You,
the patience to wait for You,
eyes to behold You,
a heart to meditate upon You,
and a life to proclaim You,
through the power of the Spirit of Jesus, our Lord. Amen.
