Prayer is Love, I want to Love

The Prophecy of Simeon (1)

Extract

Mary and Joseph took the baby Jesus to the Temple in Jerusalem to present him to the Lord; it was a Jewish custom.

When they met Simeon, a devout man who had been told by the Holy Spirit that he would not die until he had seen the Saviour, Simeon took Jesus in his arms and said “Now, according to your word … permit your servant to depart in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation”. (Luke 2:29)

Thought

Joseph and Mary did as other proud parents, they took Jesus to the Temple. They knew that Jesus was the Son of God, but it must still have been very difficult for them to unravel the words of Simeon; what did Simeon mean?

As new parents, we can be sure that they had many unanswered questions but faith in God.

Reflection

Lord Jesus, let me not worry about tomorrow but live just for today; bring peace into my life, I pray.

Prayer: Be at Peace (St Francis de Sales)

Do not look forward in fear to the changes in life;
rather, look to them with full hope that as they arise,
God, whose very own you are,
will lead you safely through all things;
and when you cannot stand it,
God will carry you in His arms.

Do not fear what may happen tomorrow;
the same understanding Father who cares for you today
will take care of you then and every day.

He will either shield you from suffering
or will give you unfailing strength to bear it.
Be at peace,
and put aside all anxious thoughts and imaginations.
