“In those days there was another large crowd with nothing to eat”. (Mark 8:1)
But Jesus was compassionate because they had not eaten for three days. Taking the small amount of food available, seven loaves and a few small fish, he gave thanks and served it to them.
Everyone ate until they were satisfied.
The miracle of Jesus feeding thousands, using a few loaves and some small fish, is an amazing event.
What is also amazing, is that in today’s world of super technology and resources, there are still thousands upon thousands of hungry people. They are both food hungry and spirit hungry.
Lord Jesus, guide those who hold public office. May they bring a determination for equality to our brothers and sisters throughout the world.
Remember O Most Gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known
that anyone who fled to Thy protection,
implored Thy help or sought Thy intercession,
was left unaided.
Inspired with this confidence,
I fly unto Thee O Virgin of Virgins, my Mother;
to Thee I come; before Thee I stand,
sinful and sorrowful,
O Mother of the word incarnate,
despise not my petitions;
but in Thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.
