Sheep Without A Shepherd (1)

Extract

A large audience
Who will be our shepherd?

Jesus travelled between towns and villages healing the sick and preaching His Gospel.

People often followed Him and he would take pity on them saying, “They were troubled and abandoned, like sheep without a shepherd”. (Matthew 9:36)

Thought

Today, throughout God’s world, we see people with good shepherds, others with no shepherds and sadly, many with poor or very misleading shepherds!

Reflection

Lord Jesus, bring to our fields an abundance of Good Shepherds – Priests, Religious, Teachers and lay-people – so that our world hears and follows your Divine message.

Prayer: Christian Unity (John Henry Newman)

O Lord Jesus Christ,
when you were about to suffer,
you prayed for your disciples that they might all be one,
as you are in the Father,
and the Father in you.
Look down in pity on the many divisions
among those who profess your faith.
Heal the wounds which the pride of man
and the craft of satan have inflicted on your people.
Break down the walls of separation which divide Christians.
Look with compassion on all souls and bring them together
under the Holy Catholic Church.
