Jesus told the Parable about a man who had two sons. When they were both asked to work in his vineyard, one said, “Yes,” but didn’t go, while the second said, “No,” but on reflection went.
Jesus then asked, “Which of the two sons did his father’s will?” (Matthew 21:31a)
In my daily ways, perhaps there are times when I act like the first son and then, other times like the second!
However, Jesus had a deeper parable message. Among us are those who have heard Jesus’ teachings, claim to accept but don’t, and then there are those who hear his word, refuse to listen, but later repent and accept!
Lord Jesus, open my ears to your word and my heart to your ways. Enlighten my resolve to sing your praises, as I fulfil today’s, “Yes/No” chores.
Prayer: Stillness of Soul (St John of the Cross)
O Blessed Jesus,
give me stillness of soul in You.
Let Your mighty calmness reign in me.
O King of Gentleness,
King of Peace.
