Jesus said to his disciples, “I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have nothing more they can do. But I will warn you whom you should fear: fear the one who, after the killing, has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him”. (Luke 12:4-5)
We are often so focused on this material world that life after death seems irrelevant. Yet, at any moment of God’s choosing, it will arrive!
Almighty Father, grant me a healthy fear of You. Guide me in my preparations for death so that, when my time comes, I can welcome it. This I ask through your Risen Son, Jesus Christ.
O Most Pure Heart of Mary,
you are full of goodness.
Show us your love.
Let the flame of your heart, O Mary,
descend on all people.
Mary, we love you.
Impress on our hearts, true love,
so that we may long for you.
O Mary, gentle and humble of heart,
remember us in our greatest needs. Amen.
