Extract
Jesus had just returned by boat to the other side of the lake when a synagogue ruled, Jairus, approached him. Jairus fell at his feet and begged him to come and lay his hands on his 12yr old daughter, who was near to death. Jesus agreed but before he could get to her home, the little girl died.
Jesus continued his journey and with her mother, father and a few of his disciples, He entered her room. “Then, gently taking the child by the hand, he said to her, ‘Talitha koum,’ which means, ‘Little girl, I say to you, get up’. The girl got up at once and began to walk about”. (Mark 5:41-42)
Thought
How feeble our faith! Jesus, you are the true light of the world; even death has no power over you.
Reflection
Lord Jesus, help my faith to grow as strong as that of Jairus. May I be a light in the presence of your people today and praise your name forever.
A Prayer – Mary, Help of Christians
Most Holy Virgin Mary, Help of Christians,
how sweet it is to come to your feet
imploring your perpetual help.
If earthly mothers cease not to remember their children,
how can you, the most loving of all mothers forget me?
Grant then to me, I implore you,
your perpetual help in all my necessities,
in every sorrow, and especially in all my temptations.
I ask for your unceasing help for all who are now suffering.
Help the weak, cure the sick, convert sinners.
Grant through your intercessions
many vocations to the religious life.
Obtain for us, O Mary, Help of Christians,
that having invoked you on earth
we may love and eternally thank you in heaven.
