Extract
The proud parents, Mary and Joseph, took Jesus at the end of forty days to the Temple in Jerusalem, “To present Him to the Lord,” as was Jewish custom and offer a sacrifice, “A pair of doves or two young pigeons”. (Luke 2:22, 24)
Thought
Mary and Joseph rigorously followed Jewish custom during Jesus’ childhood, doing as the law stated.
Jesus’ teachings delivered a new Gospel and today, we have new customs, the sacraments and other celebrations.
Pray that all families will adhere to Jesus’ laws.
Reflection
Lord Jesus, grant me the grace to do what is right for my family and may my actions be a shining example for others to learn from.
