As Jesus travelled to towns and villages, He was accompanied by his twelve Apostles and often a group of women followers.
They consisted of Mary Magdalene whom he had healed, Joanna (wife of Herod’s household manager), Susanna and many others. The women provided for Jesus and the Apostles out of their own resources and Jesus humbly accepted.
Mary Magdalene was present at two of Jesus’ most crucial moments, his death on the Cross and His resurrection from the dead. (Luke 8:1-3)
We can also have Jesus accompany us today, in our prayers, thoughts and actions.
Lord Jesus, help me to realise that I am never alone, raise my awareness of your permanent presence around me.
May everything that I do today be pleasing to your Almighty Father in Heaven. Amen.
Prayer: The Sick
Lord Jesus Christ,
you bore our sufferings and carried our sorrows.
In order to show us clearly,
the value of human weakness and patience,
graciously hear our prayers for the sick.
Grant that those who are weighed down,
with pain and other afflictions of illness,
may realise that they are among the chosen ones,
whom you call blessed.
Help them to understand,
that they are united with you in your sufferings,
for the salvation of the world. Amen.
… listen, reflect and enjoy.
