It was another annual family trip to Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover for Mary, Joseph and Jesus. They travelled with their friends and community forming a large caravan of people.
Mary and Joseph were distraught on their home return when they discovered Jesus was not among their group, they had already travelled for one day!
They went back to Jerusalem and after 3 days searching, they found Him in the Temple courts surrounded by a large crowd. Jesus was just 12 years old but his understanding of law and scripture and his answers to the crowd’s questions left them “astonished”. (Luke 2:47)
Thought
I wonder, how many of the learned scholars listening or questioning the 12-year-old Jesus progressed to the Sanhedrin some twenty or so years later; the people who condemned Jesus to a death by crucifixion!
It is said, we choose our own path in life!
Reflection
Lord Jesus, grant me the grace to discern the difference between right and wrong, and the common-sense to embrace and pursue Your teachings, Your holy will.
Prayer: Holy Spirit
Most Holy Spirit, beloved of my soul, I adore You.
Enlighten me, guide me, comfort me, console me.
I promise to submit myself to all You desire of me,
And permit all You wish to happen to me.
Give me Your help, tell me what to do.
Most Holy Spirit, bring peace to my world. Amen.
