Although Jesus had many devout followers, there were others who didn’t like him and wanted to kill him.
On one occasion, a group picked up stones to, “Stone him to death”. Jesus’ prior question to them was, “I have shown you many good deeds from the Father. For which one of them are you going to stone me?” (John 10:32)
It’s difficult to understand how some people can perceive good as a threat to their own way of life and are prepared to kill for it, but it happens, many times every day!
Lord Jesus, help me to imitate your endless good works. May I readily distinguish good deeds from evil and pray earnestly for those who wish to, “Stone You”.
Prayer: Faith (St Benedict)
Gracious and Holy Father,
give us the wisdom to discover You,
the intelligence to understand You,
the diligence to seek after You,
the patience to wait for You,
eyes to behold You,
a heart to meditate upon You,
and a life to proclaim You,
through the power of the Spirit of Jesus, our Lord. Amen.
