Simon Peter, having listened to Jesus say He would suffer and be crucified, tried to intervene so that such a cruel death could be avoided but Jesus sternly rebuked him saying, “You are thinking not as God does, but as human beings do”. (Matthew 16:23)
How often do I try to intervene in God’s plan? How often do I think about earthly things rather than God’s Word and His heavenly rewards?
Lord Jesus, “Breathe into me your Holy Spirit so that my thoughts may be holy”. May Your will be done.
give us humility wherever pride reigns,
pardon wherever offence abides,
grace wherever sin abounds;
we pray to you;
Jesus Christ, risen Lord, have mercy on us. Amen.
