Jesus told his disciples this short parable, “No one lights a lamp and then covers it with a jar or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a lampstand so that those who come in can see the light”.
Jesus then warned the disciples that they must share his parables and Gospel doctrines with others saying, “So listen carefully, for whoever has will be given more, but whoever does not have, even what he thinks he has will be taken from him”. (Luke 8:16, 18)
While this warning was directed at the disciples, we are also teachers and have a duty to share our Gospel knowledge with others. Listening is not enough, we must become doers!
Lord Jesus, open my heart to the opportunities available to me to share your Gospel teachings. Grant me the strength to proudly bear witness to your Word.
Prayer: Daily Service
Make us worthy, Lord,
to serve our brothers and sisters throughout the world,
who live and die in poverty and hunger.
Give them, through our hands,
this day their daily bread,
and by our understanding love,
give them peace and joy.
Make us, Lord,
worthy to serve our brothers and sisters,
scattered all over the world,
who live and die alone and poor.
Give them today, using our hands, their daily bread.
And, using our love, give them peace and happiness. Amen.
